M7 Network and CFRC – Capacity Building for Staff in Philippines

From April 25 to 29, 2011, the management staff of M7 Mai Son, Uong Bi, Dong Trieu, Dien Bien Phu and CFRC had a study tour to learn microfinance models, micro-insurance products and services by Mutually Reinforcing Institutions in the development of agriculture and rural development (CARD MRI) in Laguna, Philippines.     Read more

TYM – Sign MOU of a HIV pilot project

On May 10, 2011,  The Tinh Thuong One Member Limited Liability Microfinance Institution (TYM), a microfinance service provider under the Vietnam Women’s Union and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) HIV Workplace Project, development partner Family Health International (FHI) signed a memorandum of understanding outlining the partnership that will enable the microfinance institution to mainstream lending to women living with HIV and those affected by HIV.   Read more

PlaNet Finance – Orientation and Planning Workshop on Social Performance Management (SPM) and Agri-Microfinance (AMF)

The Financial Inclusion Project, a partnership between the Vietnam Microfinance Working Group (VMFWG) and the PlaNet Finance has completed its selection of participating microfinance institutions (MFIs). The five (5) MFIs included the DienBien Phu-District, Dien Bien Phu-City, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh and Tien Giang. This orientation and planning  workshop is the initial activity that will start development intervention to enhance their operation.   Read more

Growing by Making Effective Decisions (9-12 Nov 2011)

ADA and ATTF are proud to announce the hosting of the first edition of a work­shop dedicated to Microfinance Institutions’ Performance with a special focus on Risk Management. This event will take place in Luxembourg from November 9 to 12, 2011 (4 days), and has been specially designed for executive directors, deputy directors or financial directors of small and medium-size Microfinance Institutions, known as Tier 3 and Tier 2 MFIs.  Read more  

MICROFIN – Business Planning and Financial Projections (19 – 23 Sep 2011)

This course guides participants through a step-by-step process for developing a business plan and financial projections for a microfinance institution using Microfin 4.0,the sophisticated financial projections software that was developed by the facilitator of this training course, Chuck Waterfield, with financial support from CGAP, Women’s World Banking, and Sida.  Read more

ADB – Batch IV Training Courses (17 – 26 Aug 2011)

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) through the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) is now launching the search for the resource person/trainer for the third batch of trainings under the TA Project 9140 entitled Formalization of Microfinance Institutions in Vietnam, funded by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction. The courses and schedules of the trainings as approved by ADB and SBV would be held from 17 – 26 August, 2011.   Read more

SPTF – Annual Meeting (19 – 23 June 2011)

The meeting will focus on how to move the social performance agenda forward and given the key role networks play in doing so, there will be two days for the SPTF Associations Working Group to meet: a pre-meeting on the 20th and a post meeting on the 23rd. In addition to these, there will be side meetings of social investors, IMP-ACT Consortium, SMART Campaign and the SPM Working Group amongst others. Also look out for side sessions for updates on different tools and certification initiatives.   Read more

CSIP – Call for Application 2011 Social Entrepreneurs Support Program – Deadline: June 30, 2011

By investing in social entrepreneurs (SEs) at early stages, Centre for Social Initiatives Promotion (CSIP) aims at the development of new solutions for most pressing social and environmental issues in Vietnam. SEs at Start-up level will receive a financial support equivalent to $7,000; SEs at Take-off stage will receive a financial support equivalent to $20,000 – 30,000. Besides, CSIP and partners provide technical support, legal information assistance, advocacy and networking.  Read more

SPARK calling for concept notes on social business solutions in 2011 – Deadline: June 24, 2011)

Spark is launching its third public call for concept notes on social business solutions in 2011. Spark offers the following support: * Tailor-made capacity building and expert advice (e.g. leadership, business management, technical, financial skill building). * Seed funding, of up to VND 500,000,000/selected solution, mainly for capacity development activities for scaling up solutions. * Linking social enterprises with capacity development service providers and potential social investors.      Read more 

Social Performance Start-Up Fund for Networks call for proposals (Deadline: June 14, 2011)

The Start-Up Fund offers to the eligible microfinance associations a unique opportunity to get funding for activities within 3 areas: SP Start-up Component, Optional Component, Networking & Learning Component. On top of the work with members, additional funding is available for networks within the Networking & Learning Component to cover the costs of participation in SP-related events as part of network staff education in Social Performance or to cover the costs of developing networks’ SPM strategy.   Read more
