In the morning of April 24 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired the conference the Prime Minister with Business 2014.
The participants included: the Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc Hoang Trung Hai, Vu Van Ninh; Ministers, heads of ministries, central and local agencies; Associations, Business Association and more than 200 businessman representing businesses in the country.
Representatives of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were Mr. To Hoai Nam – Vice President and General Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Van Tu – Head of Office, Mr. Pham Ngoc Long -Director of Institute of science management of SMEs.
The conference aimed to evaluate the development of enterprises, the favorable side, the good side, achievements and indicate the difficulties, limitations and problems. On that basis, the Government and the business community discussed and offered specific and practical solutions with the objective of maximizing the advantages, creating favorable conditions for the business community to develop fast and sustainably, which contributes to the overall development of the country’s economy.
According to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, looking back over the past 3 years, despite difficulties and challenges due to the impacts of the crisis and the global economic downturn, we have performed basic objectives setting for the 5 year plan from 2011 to 2015 with the joint efforts of country. Notably , the macroeconomy is stable, inflation are controlled; a reasonable growth rate is maintained with annually increase; social security is assured; political – social is secured; standard of living is constantly improved ; national security is maintained ; Vietnam ‘s position in the international market is considerably improved.
These achievements have important contributions from the business community, as the main production forces of the economy
However, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also pointed out the difficulties and shortcomings, limitations of Businesses. Particularly, the number of firms is much fewer than the population size; the businesses’ scale is still small ( 97-98 % of business is small and medium enterprises ); capital is little ,there are not many employees used; competitiveness of enterprises has been improved but not yet meet requirements of competitive environment; management capacity is limited; Although the business environment is improved, there are still many limitations and problems need to be improved
From the above analysis, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested ministries, local and business community, associations to implement important missions well together.
The Prime Minister also said that after this conference, the Government Office will forward all recommendations of the business community to all related ministries and agencies to handle.
Attending the meeting as community representatives of small and medium enterprises community in the whole country, Mr. To Hoai Nam – Vice President and Secretary General of Vietnam Association of SME had a profound speech on the situation of SMEs in accessing to bank credit, reaffirmed the practice and the active role of Vietnam SMEs, raised the limitations and difficulties of SMEs in accessing credit, causes of this situation and recommendations. The speech has received consensus from Mr. Nguyen Van Binh – The Governor of State Bank of Vietnam as well as the participants of the conference.
