On 2 April, 2014, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) issued an action plan to support microfinance in 2014

Accordingly, the guidelines on the organization and operation of formal microfinance institutions (MFIs) will be basically completed to guarantee that formal MFIs operate in a legal framework consistent with the characteristics of this type of organization.

Besides, the SBV and the State management agencies will continue to improve the management mechanism, permits to actively support the establishment of new MFIs basing on the transformation of microfinance programs and projects having sufficient financial capacity, governance to ensure that the MFIs operate safely, efficiently and legally.

In 2014, the SBV will promote the dissemination of information to raise awareness of the role and efficiency of microfinance activities for all levels, sectors and stakeholders relating to microfinance.
