New investment opportunities in collaboration Netherlands – Vietnam
Mr. Pham Gia Khiem,Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, invited Willem Alexander – The Prince of Orange of Netherlands and Princess Máxima to Vietnam from 27 – 31 March 2011.
On the accsion of the official visit of the Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands to Vietnam with an econimic mission including over 90 Dutch companies from Netherlands, Dutch Embassy in Vietnam held theseminar “Access to Microfinance and Rural Services in Vietnam” on 29 March 2011 in Hanoi. Vietnam Microfinance Working Group (VMFWG) joined the Social Performance Task Force – Asian Working Group (SPTF AWG) Annual Meeting on Feb 28 to Mar 2, 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand. The members of AWG are the national microfinance networks in Asia.
The AWG meeting designed a 3 year strategic plan for the activities and fund raising for the members.
The AWG nominated Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) as the general coordinator of the AWG and nominated China Association Microfinance (CAM) as the coordinator for networks in East and Southeast Asia.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, Managing Director of VMFWG participated the meeting on behalf of VMFWG.
Next SPTF annual meeting will take place June 21 & 22, 2011 in Den Bosch, Netherlands, which brings together SPTF’s stakeholders to address questions about measuring and managing social performance.
SBV signs financing agreement with Tien Giang Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) signed a grant agreement worth USD 46,500 in Hanoi on March 24 for the Tien Giang Aid Fund for Women’s Economic Development. This grant is part of the technical assistance program of the Formalizing Micro-Finance Institutions Project (FMFIP) financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from the Japanese Poverty Reduction Fund.
